ERG Leads Training Programme: FAQs

Have a question about WorkLife Central's ERG Leads Training Programme?
Please read our FAQ below or contact us if you need help.

About the Programme

What is the ERG Leads Training Programme?

The ERG Leads Training Programme is a five-week online training programme for people who lead employee networks and ERGs. Each week covers one module, delivered live by an expert in that area. Alongside the five sessions you will have access to a peer group of fellow network leads.

How many people will there be on the Programme?

The cohort size is up to 20 and made up of network and ERG leads and committee members.

Do I need to attend all five sessions?

The programme is designed to be taken as a whole, and each module builds on the one before, so we do recommend attending all five live if you can. If you cannot make a session, a recording will be available (see below).

Joining the sessions

What software do you use?

Sessions take place on Zoom Meetings.

How and when will I receive the Access Link?

The Zoom links will be contained in the calendar invite, will be visible on the programme page, and will also be circulated by email prior to each session.

Do I need to download any software to make it work?

No, we will send you a weblink to access Zoom. No software needs to be downloaded to your computer or device, just follow the weblink (nice and simple!)

I can't find my Access Link, how do I request another?

Please look for emails from our team confirming your booking – you can also check the programme page. Otherwise please email us and we will help you.

I'm having trouble connecting to a session, please help!

If you're having any issues connecting, please try the following:

• Disconnect from the session and try to join again

• Visit the Zoom technical support webpage

• Contact us

If you can't attend

What happens if I can't attend a session?

Please let us know in advance if you can. Every session is recorded, and we will email you the recording link and make it available on the programme page so you can catch up before the next module. We would encourage you to watch it before the following session, as each module builds on the last.

How long is the recording available?

Recordings are available for the duration of the programme.

Can I share the recording with my network committee or colleagues?

No – recordings are for registered participants only and should not be forwarded or shared. If colleagues would find the content useful, please do talk to us about future cohorts.

Can someone attend in my place?

Places are booked in your name and the cohort works best when the same people are together throughout, so we are not able to swap attendees between sessions. If your circumstances change and you can no longer take part, please contact us as soon as possible.

During the sessions

Should I have my camera and microphone on?

You can choose to engage as much or as little as you feel comfortable to. To gain maximum benefit from the course, we do recommend having your camera and microphone on – much of the value comes from hearing about each other's experiences.

Can I ask questions during a session?

Yes, asking questions in encouraged. Each session is set up so you can ask questions throughout and there will be opportunities for group discussion. You are also welcome to submit questions ahead of a session by email.

Is there anything I need to do before each session?

Some experts will set short pre-work or reading. There is no obligation, but you will get more from the session if you have had a look.

Your peer group

What is the peer group?

Your peer group is a private group on LinkedIn for your cohort. It runs alongside the sessions and stays open after the programme ends, so you can keep talking to the people you meet. Use it to ask questions between modules, share what has and has not worked, pass on useful resources, or think out loud. There is no expert content, the focus is the sharing of experience and peer to peer support.

How do I join?

You will receive an invitation link by email before Module 1, along with instructions.

Do I have to join?

No. Joining is entirely optional and you can leave at any time. You will not miss any programme content if you choose not to take part, everything you need is covered in the sessions and the materials we send you afterwards.

Who else is in the group?

Everyone on your cohort, which means network and ERG leads and committee members from a range of our member firms. A WorkLife Central team member is also in the group to moderate the conversation.

What can I share in the group?

We ask everyone to treat the group as confidential, and to follow good group discussion etiquette – listening well; being supportive and empathetic; positive and productive; and non-judgemental.
Please do bear in mind that written messages can be screenshotted and forwarded, so use your judgement about naming individuals or sharing anything commercially sensitive about your firm.

What happens to the group after the Programme ends?

The group will stay open after the programme ends. So you can continue the conversation and share how putting what you learned into practice is going.
