Poor sleep is associated with worse health and mental health outcomes and sleep deprivation gets in the way of our concentration, memory and our ability to learn. In this Workshop Dr Maja Schaedel offers a guide for all who are interested in achieving better quality sleep. She explores the science of sleep, what sleep is, why we need it and what goes wrong with sleep. By understanding what gets in the way of sleep we are able to target the specific issues with techniques and strategies from evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Offering tips and tricks that work and debunking the ones that don’t!

Dr Maja Schaedel is a Clinical Psychologist and Director of The Good Sleep Clinic. She is one of the leading UK Sleep experts - often quoted in the media and contributes to broadsheet newspapers articles and news segments on sleep regularly, alongside running the Good Sleep Clinic and working as an NHS Clinical Psychologist in the Sleep Disorder Centre at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. She is also an experienced Child & Adolescent Clinical Psychologist having worked at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital as Principle Clinical Psychologist and working in mental health services for children & adolescents for many years.
