About Julia Hailes:

Julia Hailes has been described as one of the leading lights of the environmental movement. A change-maker, campaigner, speaker, eco- entrepreneur, consultant, writer and activist, she has spent decades at the
forefront of sustainable thinking. In 1987, Julia co-founded — alongside John Elkington — SustainAbility Ltd, one of the UK's first environmental consultancies and think tanks. She has written or co-written nine books, including the million-selling Green Consumer Guide, published in 1988. Her contributions to environmentalism have been recognised at the highest levels: in 1992 she was elected to the UN Global 500 Roll of Honour for her outstanding environmental achievement, and in 1999 she was awarded an MBE for her environmental work.
