With Elliott Rae
Building a workplace where both parents can thrive at work and at home.

In this short video, Elliot Rae, founder of Parenting Out Loud, shares practical steps organisations can take to support equal parenting and drive better outcomes for employees, families and businesses.

Elliot introduces Equal Parenting Week, a national campaign bringing employers, staff networks and inclusion leaders together to raise awareness of the barriers many working parents still face. From unequal parental leave to limited flexibility and a lack of visible support for fathers and carers, workplace culture plays a critical role in shaping how parents balance work and family life. Drawing on years of experience working with organisations, Elliot outlines three actions that can make a real difference.
About Elliott Rae:

Elliott Rae is one of the UK’s leading voices on fatherhood and masculinity. A husband and father of two daughters, his work was shaped by personal experience after developing PTSD following the traumatic birth of his eldest child.

After spending his paternity leave in a neonatal intensive care unit and navigating multiple changes to his working pattern in his daughter’s first year, Elliott became committed to improving workplace support for fathers and families.

He founded the Parenting Out Loud movement and culture change programme, helping reshape the national conversation around working dads. Elliott is the curator of the bestselling book DAD and presenter of the BBC One documentary Becoming Dad, one of the BBC’s most-watched documentaries in 2022.

He co-hosts the popular parenting podcast To Be A Boy with Joeli Brearley, which explores parenting, masculinity and raising boys. The podcast has topped the Apple parenting charts and reached number seven in Spotify’s UK podcast charts.

Elliott is a regular media contributor, writing for publications including The Independent, The Telegraph and Grazia, and appearing across national TV and radio. He previously held senior inclusion roles, including Head of DEI Delivery at HM Treasury.

In recognition of his impact, Elliott was named LinkedIn’s top UK voice on fatherhood and was awarded an MBE in 2025 for services supporting new dads. He has also received the UN Women UK #HeForShe Changemaker of the Year award.
