News from Cityparents HQ - Autumn 2019

Welcome to the latest edition of the Cityparents newsletter. Autumn now feels well underway, with the business of the new school year already hurtling us towards half term and then on to Christmas!

It’s been a busy start to the academic year for Cityparents, beginning with the launch of our Annual Members Survey results in September. Thank you to all of you who took part in this extremely valuable piece of research which was reported in The Times - please read on to hear what themes emerged later on in this newsletter.

Our events schedule ramped up quickly in September, with some captivating speakers able to sharetheir experience and expertise with us. Meik Wiking, the founder of the world’s first Happiness Research Institute inspired us to consider the important topics of 'Happiness and Memory Making', sharing some brilliant and practical tips for how we can enhance our lives and those of our children (and if you missed this excellent event, do listen to our podcast with Meik here). Susan Hamlyn from The Good Schools Guide talked to us about 'Scholarships and Bursaries' and the holy grail of 'Parenting without the Guilt'.

Looking ahead in the diary, we have the vivacious Christine Armstrong speaking today who will be telling us 'The stuff no one tells you about having children, a career and your sanity', a look at 'Understanding Naughty' in a webinar with Sarah Ockwell-Smith on 12th November and a seminar with Talking Talent on 'Agile and Flexible Working' on November 27th – to name a few highlights from our Autumn season.

We have lots of great content in this newsletter covering our core careers, wellbeing and parenting topics – here’s a snapshot of what’s included:

We hope you enjoy reading and, as ever, feedback or topic suggestions for future articles are very welcome.

We look forward to seeing many of you at an event; in the meantime, don’t forget you can get in touch by emailing any of the team or chatting with us on FacebookInstagram and Twitter. And please don't forget to follow our LinkedIn page!
