Events Round-Up - May 2019

We have just launched our Webinar programme plus a great series of events for Mental Health Week 2019. Our Summer events schedule promises to be one of the best yet!

Meet our new Head of Events: Susanne Leija

Some of you may have already had the chance to meet Susanne at recent seminars.  Susanne joined us last month and is responsible for shaping our forward Events schedule - she is brimming with ideas for new topics and speakers and is also keen to hear directly from you about your interests and suggestions. Susanne chats with us here about her most memorable work experience, top wellbeing tip and more.

Cityparents Webinars are here!

Our new Webinar programme launched last week with popular parenting expert Anita Cleare of The Positive Parenting Project talking about how to raise competent, confident children.  These online-only webinars are conducted in real time but provided you’ve registered in advance to attend, you can watch/listen to the recording at your leisure for up to 10 days afterwards.  Further webinars on a range of topics are scheduled during early summer and again throughout the autumn; you can browse the full list here.

Coming up soon

Our May events diary is dominated by Mental Health Awareness Week, which begins on Monday 13th May.  The Mental Health Foundation has chosen this year’s theme to be ‘Body Image – how we think and feel about our bodies’.  With the huge rise of social media in our lives, and our children’s lives, body image has become even more scrutinised and has a real impact on our mental health.  The events we have coming up look at 'How we can think differently about failure’, ‘Living with anxiety’, 'Living with dementia’, and ‘Wellbeing and resilience’

We are delighted Baroness Chakrabarti will be joining us on Wednesday 22nd May.  As part of our Speaker Series of events, she will talk to us about her career milestones, life as a lawyer and politician, as well as being a working parent.  We expect this event to be fully booked so please book quickly to secure your place!

After the May half term, we have a very interesting Event about ‘Remote Presence’ to ensure that your voice is heard when you’re on a conference call or not in the main meeting room.  The presentation will include tips on how to politely interrupt, how to influence the audience and keep them interested in what you are saying.  Also in our Careers section, we look at how to motivate and engage ourselves (or friends and family) back into the workforce after a significant break.  What returner programmes are out there and how to find them?

Do you know about Andropause?  It is the male version of Menopause!  Come and learn about both on 12th June.

Before the summer holidays, we have a few schooling topics – How to choose the right school for your child (Webinar on 4th July) and Getting your child ready for senior school (Event on 1st July).  As well as other topics that are back by popular demand – Raising resilient children, Helping your children to have a love of sport (webinar), Understanding the teenage brain, Confident children and Being an intuitive parent.
